Member, global coordination team
-
1997 - 2007
I was a founding coordination team member of the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor GEM consortium. Wrote the first project plan for GEM back in 1997 and worked closely with Paul Reynolds, Jonathan Levie and Harry Sapienza in designing the theoretical and empirical foundations of GEM. Today, GEM is (to my knowledge) the largest ongoing research consortium in social sciences. I was a founding coordination team member of the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor GEM consortium. 1982 - Sep 2003
Started my affiliation with HUT as student of industrial management in 1982. First became teaching assistant in 1984, in business policy and strategic planning. Subsequently became assistant to professor Martti M Kaila and did my MSc on university spin-offs. Then became university lecturer and eventually did my PhD there. Organised the International Business and Technology (KATE) programme for a couple of years, with teaching modules in the UK, Sweden, South-East Asia, Japan and the US. Finished my PhD thesis in 1994 (graduated 1995) and spent a couple of years at London Business School as post-doc research fellow. Returned to HUT in 1999 but left in 2001 for CERN. Returned in 2002 but left for HEC Lausanne in September 2003. Finally resigned my tenure at HUT in 2006 (leave of absence until then). Joined the Imperial College London in September 2006.
