I was able to join the Security Operations team when a position I eagerly waiting for opened up. It was an exciting time full of investigations where I found various events that turned into non-critical incidents. I was able to finish 4 SANS certifications that helped me in my day to day job. Created an email investigation process and documented it within the team wiki. Participated in a mock critical incident and walked multiple IT teams through the process. I enjoyed the investigation process and working with team members to find solutions to resolve issues. I am looking forward to finding another exciting job and team like the one in TransCanada.

    • Data Security Operational Analyst
      • 2010 - 2013

I found an opportunity within TransCanada where I was able to continue my interest in security. This position is where I learned a great deal about accounts, data access and the processes that are in place within the company to protect both. It was a great team where I was able to help solve issues and quickly reach goals that were set out before me

    • Network Analyst
      • 2006 - 2010

This was my first job after completing my Applied Bachelors in Network Management. It was a fast paced job, full of opportunities to troubleshoot and find solutions for various issues. My skills in time management, prioritization, communication and technical education were highly valuable.

Having learned a great deal from my previous job, I was able to jump into this help desk role easily. I continued to help people with their computer difficulties and built/maintained the testing center. The range of computer gear I worked with was rather vast; I was fixing Windows 95 to Windows XP and everything in between. This job was the start of my interest in security as I was fixing and studying various malware that was showing up on the machines. This was my first IT job while I was going to school for Computer Engineering Technology. It was an exciting experience with great people. I had the opportunity to help set up a training lab and work with many people from a wide range of backgrounds.
