Beginning as an intern in May 2008 I worked as a member of the benthic and pelagic marine ecology labs where work focused on lobster and cod interactions in the Gulf of Maine. Collaboration between various labs was essential and this position helped to foster that communication. Work was assigned and completed with little or no supervision meeting all standards of precision and accuracy Project included lobster tethering experiments, stomach content analysis, aging of otoliths, and preparing tissues for carbon and nitrogen isotope analysis. After my internships completion, and throughout graduate school I remained a member of the Gulf of Maine Research Institute community and continued to work on a part time basis to assist with field and lab work in the benthic and pelagic laboratories through 2012.
