I work with an awe-inspiring team to improve the lives of children from prenatal to age 8 who experience institutional or systemic barriers to opportunity in Oregon: children from low-income families, children of color, children with disabilities, dual language learners, and children in rural areas. Our research, policy and advocacy, learning initiatives, and community partnerships all aim to keep kids healthy and safe and prepare them to be active, engaged learners.I lead the Children's Institute school-based initiatives team. Our signature work includes our Early School Success, a 10-year initiative to align early childhood and K–12 to offer young children high-quality, equitable learning experiences. It also includes the Early Learning Academy, virtual professional learning and coaching for district teams over the course of a year. Participants address a current problem of practice while learning a repeatable process along the way, enabling them to implement future changes. Show less
