I'm the sales and marketing director for a gorgeous 37 acre campus that offers a continuing care contract, and a enviable lifestyle, for active adults over 60. With over 19.5 million in entrance fees collected since June 2020, my team has been consistently selling a higher quality of life and enriching life experiences complete with guaranteed access to health services, if needed. Helping good people to set themselves up for success brings me great joy and satisfaction. We start by providing an orientation class outlining the aging process, the value and opportunities for life enrichment at every age, what they might experience when visiting with seniors in their communities and the benefits of connecting with other generations. This class also provides guidance on behavior towards the elderly. The program can be integrated with the social studies curriculum of each grade, marrying the time period studied with the residents, allowing students the opportunity to meet someone who experienced this time period, first hand. 2) Every generation has a story to tell. That’s our mantra and, really, our core belief. We provide an opportunity to for kids to meet with seniors and provide them with tools to record and help preserve personal histories. 3) Community Outreach: Talk To History helps senior communities and centers to open up their facilities to their local areas, fostering communication and bridging the gap between residents and their communities. Talk To History works with senior care facility staff to develop local events, art galleries, live music and other social gatherings of interest to residents and the community. Talk To History helps communities embrace their local senior care facilities as fun, interesting places to visit. Comfort and Joy Cafe was a concept designed to provide healthy, fresh food, entertainment and an opportunity for families and friends to relax, unwind and commune. The food was fresh and bought locally, every day, from community vendors and farms. As our food was made "from scratch," we were able to cater to a variety of special dietary needs - because we knew every ingredient that went into every item we served. Comfort and Joy offered customers a way to connect with one… Show more Comfort and Joy Cafe was a concept designed to provide healthy, fresh food, entertainment and an opportunity for families and friends to relax, unwind and commune. As our food was made "from scratch," we were able to cater to a variety of special dietary needs - because we knew every ingredient that went into every item we served. Comfort and Joy offered customers a way to connect with one another - beyond their smart phones. There were a variety of games on every table - cards, trivia games, crossword puzzles, handheld water games, etc.. Comfort & Joy opened it's stage several nights a week to artists and musicians. Folk, jazz, rock & roll, open mic, spoken word and karaoke, too - something for everyone! In it's short life, Comfort and Joy played matchmaker to it's community. It created an environment ripe for connection. People got to know one another. They talked between tables, jumped up on stage to jam with a band and formed lasting friendships. The lagging economy and off-the-beaten-path location of this happy little gem left us little choice but to close our doors - but never our hearts! The Comfort and Joy team remains committed to our community and, although the restaurant is gone, the spirit and intent lives on as we open our homes to host a variety of events. We have been approached by potential investors and have looked into other locations that might be a better fit for our vision. We're keeping our options open - but, I tell you - every community needs a place like this. We ALL need Comfort and Joy. Owning and running a restaurant is the single most difficult, exciting, grueling, INSANE, hair-brained, fabulous, ridiculous, heartbreaking, educational and beautiful thing I've ever done. Will I do it again? We'll keep you posted! ;) Show less Comfort and Joy Cafe was a concept designed to provide healthy, fresh food, entertainment and an opportunity for families and friends to relax, unwind and commune.
