- Built a Node Package Manager library to cache GraphQL API queries on the server using the Adaptive Replacement Cache algorithm and a custom Express middleware to abstract the server architecture for reduced latency and improved application performance - Applied TypeScript to the cache and the Express middleware to improve the development experience by catching bugs in the code at compile-time and promoting code readability, consistency, and predictability while accessing the cache on requests to the server - Designed a GraphQL API with nested Query and Mutation types to demonstrate the cache library in a Node/Express server and to control the data querying logic from the client, efficiently fetching only the necessary data on a single request - Created a desktop application using a Node.js runtime with Electron.js to visualize cache performance metrics enabling users to locally host their own instance of the application, compatible with macOS, Windows, and Linux, and its associated data with high security and performance - Employed Chart.js to create interactive and responsive visualizations for different cache performance metrics such as the Cache Hit Ratio and Total Query Time rendered in the Canvas HTML element for high performance with large amounts of data - Configured useState and useEffect React Hooks in functional components to modularize state management within the application and conditionally render data visualizations on the customizable dashboard while dynamically updating the charts on live changes to the database - Architected a PostgreSQL database to store relational data and used Sequelize to connect to, set-up, and query the database, unifying all the interactions with the database in the server while improving the security, maintainability, and scalability of the application Product developed under tech accelerator OS Labs (opensourcelabs.io) Show less
