  Metspan used to be a wholly owned subsidiary of the Capespan group of companies as marketing arm for Capespan in South East Asia. My role had two main functions: 1. Marketing Management For the first 3 years I frequently travelled across South East Asia and was responsible for the marketing of fruit to the various South East Asian markets (Hong Kong retail, Indonesia, Malaysia, Taiwan, Vietnam, South Korea and Thailand). This entailed several functions, amongst others: - Customer relationship building and visits - Setting up seasonal marketing plans, follow up by weekly trading and shipping - Quality claims handling - visiting customers, surveying containers and negotiating claims. 2. Supply Management Since 2012, I took over the management of Metspan's South African supply operations. This included briefly the following: - Supplier relationships - Management of the team of quality assurance coordinators in South Africa. - Daily stock management and allocation to the various vessels. - Sourcing of fruit at the most optimal values for sales into South East Asia. - Contracting with service providers and shipping lines. - Supplying countries: Egypt & South Africa.
