During the fall semester of 2021, I served as the TA for Wheaton's Econometrics class. I was responsible for leading 7 help sessions throughout the semester to aid students in understanding the material they learned during class, and guide them through their assigned problem sets and Stata exercises. I then graded each of their assignments and gave feedback to the professor to tell him about which concepts the students grasped well and in which areas they needed significant help. The professor greatly appreciated my feedback on the students' grasp of the course material. I also received compliments from the students that the help that I gave them enabled them to better understand the course. Show less

Unit Leader - Kitchen Staff
-
May 2021 - Aug 2021
I worked as one of the kitchen unit leaders at HoneyRock's summer camp for elementary through high schoolers. I was responsible for organizing a shift of the 22 college-aged kitchen staff to provide two of the three meals a day to 500 campers and staff as well as to keep the kitchen clean, organized, and adequately stocked. I held staff meetings to explain the plan for each meal, managed the staff by designating tasks and motivating them, ensured that all of the deadlines were met, and lead debriefs to get feedback and hear how the staff was doing. On top of this, I coordinated with the head chef and the other unit leaders to make the weekly schedule, resolve conflicts within the staff, and make plans to meet the needs and requests of campers and other staff cohorts. In this job, I learned how to prioritize tasks and manage a team of workers in order to meet multiple deadlines every day. The kitchen was difficult and tedious work, but I learned how to create a positive work environment where employees felt motivated to work and meet deadlines, but that wasn't overly stressful. I learned the importance of forming good relationships with each of the staff members and going out of my way to make them feel seen and appreciated. I also found ways to bring fun and laughter into the kitchen while also maintaining order so that deadlines could be met. Show less

Retail Salesworker

Nov 2018 - Jan 2020
I worked during summer and winter breaks as a retail salesperson for Asics. In this role, I interacted with customers to inform them about our products and help them find the right product for them. I also helped to keep the store organized by keeping products sorted and in the right place. At Asics, I learned the importance of communication, teamwork, and punctuality. I learned to work together with my co-workers to assist customers with a wide variety of needs. I often had to help multiple customers at once, act quickly, and jump in to help a co-worker when needed. I had to learn about each of the products so I was knowledgeable enough to make good recommendations and assist customers in finding the right product for them. On two occasions I was also able to use my Spanish to help customers who did not speak English. Show less
