  As a camp counselor, I was responsible for up to 10 campers at a time, ages 12-14, who were under my supervision. I worked with one other counselor, with whom I shared my responsibilities. We were responsible for planning activities, keeping campers safe, and settling disputes between campers. I had to learn how to become more flexible with my schedule, because I had to be available all day and night to help campers who were having difficulties, such as homesickness. I had to be capable of dealing with many different types of problems that may occur, as well as being able to care for campers with certain conditions, including diabetes.

  As a lifeguard, I not only ensured the safety of all patrons present at the beach, but I also enforced the rules, and cleaned the beach to create a hospitable environment. Much of the work I did required working within a team of four other lifeguards, who all worked together to provide assistance and aid to each other, in order to be able to keep people safe to the best of our ability. I had to learn to be stern and diligent while working as a lifeguard, as if I was not, people could get hurt under my supervision.
