Stian Henriksen
Erik is the best co-worker I've ever had and I have had the pleasure of reporting directly to him for almost four years. During our time in REC we faced some tough challenges. From starting up the REC Singapore site, to execute extreme cost reduction programs in all factories. I've met managers who can set challenging targets, but to often they lack the ability to understand how to achieve these targets, thus not allocating appropriate resources and competence. Erik has the ability and energy to dig in to the key challenges of every business and not only state what needs to be done, but also develop a detailed plan for how to achieve this. The cornerstone for this is Erik's exceptional understanding of Lean. What do we need to achieve and HOW are we going to do this. Before I started to work for Erik, I had over 6 years of experience with Lean. After I started working together with him, I soon realized that before this, I had no idea about how a "Lean leader" actually works. Of all the executives I've ever met, Erik is by far the best one. He is a true "Lean leader": 1: Setting very challenging goals 2: Has a strong opinion and willingness to discuss how to achieve them, challenging all co-workers 3: Follows up on a daily basis, how you are doing according to the plan 4: Acknowledging your success, and coach you in how to do better next time. During my time at REC Solar he achieved impressive results in terms of quality improvements, cost efficiency and production capacity at both the cell and module factories. Erik implemented (with colleagues) the REC Solar Production system which was the main cause for the significant improvements achieved. Erik has an extensive work rate and truly enjoys to work with continuous improvement within manufacturing.
