Broadcast Operations Officer

Operations Officer for the American Forces Network.Responsible for rights management, security and distribution of AFN programming to include signal encryption, distribution and access rights for the authorized AFN audience including activity duty United States military personnel, Department of Defense and Department of State employees overseas. I manage all AFN signal piracy issues and work with military command and law enforcement entities to investigate suspected piracy and terminate signal decoder authorization of individuals misusing or abusing access to programming. As the liaison to the Department of State, I create and implement AFN policy detailing authorized use and access to programming for American embassies and consulates worldwide. I work directly with the Department of State, Bureau of Information Resource Management to review and approve AFN service and develop technical solutions to safeguard programming within State Department compounds. Principle AFN liaison and advisor to the 557th Weather Wing and 2nd Weather Squadron, Offutt Air Force Base, Nebraska, on the development, production, and distribution of television weather products to the worldwide AFN audience. I create and review proposed and published policies, directives, regulations, and procedures on broadcast operations, products, and training and am the principle author of Department of Defense instructions on AFN operations. I oversee the long-range resource management mission, program planning, and timely execution, coordination, and integration efforts of other agencies in the daily AFN broadcast mission.

Provided policy guidance and program management for 12 American Forces Network radio and television stations in Europe and Asia. Worked directly with regional field units researching and preparing reports on operational plans and programs. Managed the direction, planning, coordinating, execution and evaluation of overall news and information programs for broadcasting and media operations supporting the local host command communication and information initiatives at each location. Developed self-inspection and compliance checklists addressing Defense Media Activity and regional headquarters operations. Maintained the skills training programs for assigned civilian and military broadcasting and public affairs personnel. Identified weaknesses, researched, developed, and recommended appropriate training programs and training methodology to enhance employee skills. Conducted broadcast operations training on television production, television lighting, broadcast writing, video editing, radio show host, and radio spot production to affiliate station staff. Monitored content and technical quality of all broadcast productions to ensure support of strategic communication objectives and compliance with commercial broadcast standards. Media Production Specialist

Videotaped, wrote, edited, and produced video products and shot still photography products to include in United States Air Force School of Aerospace Medicine Advanced Distributive Learning (ADL) products. Products included instructor presentations, teaching practices, and instructional processes for six distinct officer and enlisted initial, intermediate and advanced courses. Wrote and edited broadcast scripts for all internal and external productions and command directed mission briefs to Air Education and Training Command, Air Force Material Command, and other Department of Defense and civilian medical agencies highlighting command strategic communications messages. Completed detailed video and still photography imagery demonstrating aircraft configuration for aero medical evacuation missions and emergency egress training for critical care air transport trainees, aero medical evacuation technicians and flight nurse training for the C-17 and C-130 airframes. Authored and created an ADL program for the USAF Surgeon General detailing initial orientation for the International Health Specialist program.
