I currently work as a per diem producer and writer at CBS 2 Chicago on the morning shows Sunday to Saturday. (#ThirdShiftLife) When I write, I take the information sourced by our reporters and news desk and turn it into compelling, conversational copy for the anchors to read on-air. I also build the visuals to go with it; this can fullscreen graphics and banners, to cutting video and sound. My main experience with editing is in EDIUS/Grass Valley software, though I have experience in DaVinci Resolve and Adobe Premiere. As a producer, it's my job to source the news of the day, and build stories into a compelling rundown that both informs and flows. I pride myself on being more than "just a showstacker." And, of course, in either role, I live for Breaking news. (What self-respecting journo doesn't?) Show less

I've previously worked as a producer for Action 2 News This Morning. Everyday, my co-producer, executive producer, and I would create the most-watched morning newscast in the market. Our two-and-a-half hour show came complete with three incredible anchors, an extremely talented live reporter, and one of the most informative-yet-entertaining meteorologists in the country. From finding and sourcing new overnight stories on the wires (ABC News, CNN, AP, etc.), to writing forward-facing anchor copy, we worked as a team to tell the greater Green Bay and Fox Valley areas everything they needed to start their day. Our coverage included world news, national headlines, what's happening in the State of Wisconsin, and what's going on in their backyard. As a producer, I enhanced this information through selecting visual and graphic elements to accent the copy I write in ENPS (including supers/lower-thirds; fullscreens of picture, text, and/or video; stingers, etc.). I can edit VO's and SOT's in EDIUS, before pushing them into the server. (We run the Overdrive system.) About WBAY-TV2: Green Bay/Appleton is currently Market 68 in Nielsen rankings, proudly putting us in the top one-third of markets in the United States. I am consistently amazed and impressed at how many resources the staff at WBAY is afforded in presenting the news every day. Resources aside, I am personally proud of the people I work with. From the top-down, every journalist has talent and pride. All of us endeavor to do the best job we can - and always seek new ways to do it even better - no matter how long our tenure has been with the company. There's a reason we are the more watched station in the area, and known as a legacy station. Show less

As an anchor for Lakeshore Public Radio, it's my job to source, compile, write, produce, edit, and deliver news information every hour: headlines, feature stories, and more. While live on the air, I engineer and operate the control board, our phone system, and other production software for myself. In preparation of upcoming newscasts, I create packages and edit them to varying lengths of time. I also know how to gather rich sound to supplement news stories for the radio listener. Beyond these duties, I assist Lakeshore with their digital media presence by uploading new stories and the news I produce to our company’s website and multiple social media platforms. I do all of this while possessing a strong concept of time: I meet deadlines, back time stacked newscasts, and hit posts. To ensure continuity within the station, I coordinate my workflow of ongoing news stories to anchors who work other shifts so that they may follow-up and expand upon them if need be, as I do with stories they send my way. One of my biggest accomplishments so far however has to be working in tandem with NPR's Digital Services team and our station's engineer to bring our on-air content to NPR's new media app, NPR One. Getting our content onto a new platform has allowed our news coverage to reach a much broader audience, even beyond the signal strength of our radio tower. Show less
