Perhaps my most rewarding year in education was my first at AMHS. It was the first time in 7 years that I had not been the head football coach, which allowed me to focus much more time and energy on the classroom. I am so lucky to have had this experience and form relationships with those students.

Social Studies Teacher/ Head Football Coach
-
Aug 2007 - Jul 2013
My time at VCHS was unforgettable. It is an amazing institution with amazing people. The 6 years there flew by because it was such an enjoyable place to work. I was in charge of the football program, which is steeped in tradition. That was a humbling and challenging task. We won a lot, sometimes we lost a lot, but we always learned a lot. The guys I coached left a legacy of hard work and dedication. Football is a microcosm of life in a lot of ways and I think we learned how to lead amid success and failure. Show less

This was my first job out of college. I taught AP history and AP government, coached football and baseball and started to learn the ins and outs of the educational system. Nothing prepares you for your first job except your first job. This was my first job out of college.
