When I assumed leadership of BMG, it was a minor entity within ING. The niche entity subsequently became a significant contributor to ING Group’s commercial banking footprint, one of only 5 strategic products in the group. It became a USP for ING's wholesale banking activity. I was privileged to be appointed to the Hall of Fame of Global Custodian, and joined multiple advisory boards including T2S at ECB, Clearstream and Euroclear.MY IMPACT► Expedited the replacement of the core securities processing platform in 9 countries in 2 years.► Delivered an explosive revenue peak in 2008 despite the global economic recession.► Positioned the business to be sold for a profit at an estimated value of €250 – €300M. THE GIST In charge of the credit analysis team, the credit administration staff as well as the legal team. Also responsible for the trade finance operations activities. As SVP Credit I was responsible for organising a robust credit process and managing the credit portfolio of several billion USD, including the work-out of a book of leveraged loans. I was also the main interlocutor for the regulatory agencies related to the credit portfolio. MY IMPACT Cleaned up the non-performing loan book and oversaw a professionalisation of the credit analysis team and the credit decision making process. This resulted in a loan book of much improved quality and a minimisation of credit write-offs.
