In 2017 the co-founders of Agrishared decided to participate in Kosmos Innovation Center (KIC)’s program dubbed Agritech Challenge. The team which was made of five members fell apart after Kosmos announced that the team could not make it to the next stage of the challenge. We therefore decided to improve the original idea and come out with a new one which is more broader, capital intensive and needs higher level of thinking and thoughts to materials. As a technical team lead and head of IT and Innovations, I deemed it fit to pick technologies that will make Agrishared work in terms of speed and scalability. We therefore crafted Agrishared with modern tools and technologies using React Framework, Node JS, MongoDB, GraphQl, Apolo etc. to develop a secure and robust backend (API) which is capable of handling billions of transactions and can stand a test of time.As much as we needed to look at technology, we have been very mindful of the solution and the problem we are solving. Agrishared.com is an infrastructure for the entire Agricultural value chain for African farmers and the buyers of raw materials or farm produce across Africa and the world. What are we doing different from the rest of the solutions in the Agricultural sector? Agrishared has E-commerce but farmers post their produce just like what they will do on FaceBook or LinkedIn. The E-commerce can be categorized into B2C, B2B and SPX (Sub-Contracting and Partnership Exchange) for big buyers and long term contracts divulge of scam. The platform features Payment System (Wallet), Logistics, Investments, Knowledge Library (Farming videos on demand), sharing economy for tools and equipment, warehouse renting and booking etc.
