•During the 2013-2014 school year, Eisenhower Jr. High had 71% of its students meet / exceed growth targets in reading on the MAP Assessment, ranking Eisenhower in the top 5% nationally for growth•Teach Discovery (gifted) Class; 70% of the students in this class met or exceeded their MAP reading growth targets during the 2013 – 2014 school year•Utilized PLC (Professional Learning Community) system with 16 department members in order to: ensure that students learn; create a culture of collaboration among stakeholders; and create a focus on results – the system is based on the work of Richard and Becky DuFour. •Developed and implemented a system for “Planning Backwards” that allowed Intervention and Social Studies classes to better align with Language Arts curriculum•Worked collaboratively with administration and department to implement new ELA CCSS aligned curriculum •Led the strategic planning with the department members to prioritize and implement enrichment opportunities that focus on student achievement •Presented to District 54 Superintendent and Cabinet at the SIP (School Improvement Process) Review•Worked collaboratively with administration to develop departmental goals that serve as the action steps that guide the department in reaching the goals stated in the School Improvement Plan•Analyzed MAP data to improve reading instruction and achievement•Facilitated daily department meetings with content and acceleration/intervention teachers•Updated resources available in our department “Book Room” to better align with three curricular shifts in the common core•“How Can We Support One Another?
