Straight out of my undergraduate degree I joined the team at Melbourne-based training and consultancy provider, MI Academy (then Milk It Academy). Working closely with Managing Director, Alita Harvey-Rodriguez I was responsible for researching and writing content in line with with the digital marketing best practice and strategy. I used my learnings to develop blogs, workshops and other learning materials for MI Academy clients and other industry professionals. Staff Writer

I was selected to join the upstart team during my final semester at La Trobe University. My role involved a weekly contribution to the politics and society section of the publication, writing on subjects such as; current affairs, legal insufficiencies and social issues. Each week I was required to attend a meeting where I would pitch a story to my editor and peers. I would then contact and interview professionals and draft a story to be submitted by my Thursday morning deadline. As well as writing my own content I was required to work a half-day shift editing the drafts of peers and external contributors as well as managing the publications social media accounts. The purpose of the publication was to introduce us to the high-pressure environment of a real newsroom and to give us a platform to publish our work to a wider audience.
