Medical Assistant
-
Jul 2012 - Jul 2014
As a medical assistant I had many responsibilities ranging from clerical to clinical. Clerically, I managed reception; checking patients in, processing private billings, answering phone calls, handling in coming faxes and mail and managing the doctors' appointments. I also kept track of the clinic inventory monitoring expiration dates of medical supplies as well as vaccines and was responsible for ordering stock when needed. Clinically, I administered vaccinations and allergy shots and triaged patients to get them prepared for their visit with the doctor. In triaging I determined what tests were required for each particular patient and got their height, weight, blood pressure, preform urine analysis, glucose analysis, tested their hearing, vision, breathing, balance, coordination and reflexes. I was trained as a travel technician and conducted travel medicine appointments. I recommended travel vaccines to patients they required depending on their destination and, upon the doctors confirmation, administered them. In this position I developed excellent time management skills as well as a high commitment to patient care.

Lab Technician
-
Sep 2010 - Dec 2010
In this position I was working on the extraction and purification of the eggshell membrane protein. To do this, I preformed many protein biochemistry techniques for protein extraction includingcentrifugation, ion exchange column chromatography, dialysis, SDS-page analysis, south blot analysis and BCA assays. This required a close attention to detail and good independent working skills as well as data analysis and problem solving. I also did lab presentations and helped out my fellow labmates with their projects when they needed.
