Calgary Homeless Awareness Project

  The Calgary Homeless Awareness Project is an education initiative founded for the purpose of better educating youth in Calgary about homelessness. Through education, we hope to eliminate stigma surrounding homeless individuals, and foster a more socially conscious student population. Working in partnership with the Calgary Homeless Foundation and Calgary Board of Education, we developed a series of education modules to pilot across multiple schools and grade levels.   Worked on a Case Costing Project that is both a leading example in Alberta and successfully changing physician culture while decreasing operating costs at Rockyview General Hospital. Contributed to project design and data collection/analysis for other projects including an investigation into disposable waste through OR work flow, audits of OR disposable inventory, the Minor OR Management project and others.   Conducted an investigation into utilization of Operating Room budget, and identified multiple factors impacting cost, which helped to secure an additional $800,000 in funding. Other projects included tracking machine usage and cost for sterilization in the Medical Device Reprocessing Department, analyzing cost of robotic surgery and investigating disposable cost increases.
