I work as an environmental educator as a part of the McCall Outdoor Science School's graduate program. Us graduate students utilize the Beetles learning cycle in order to engage students, that come to the campus every week, through the use of place-based education. Our field instructing takes place in Ponderosa State Park, where we take the kids through various places in the park and teach them about the local environment, and incorporate environmental topics in them. Some of the topics I have taught my kids include water quality, snow, tree growth, animals, tracking and climate change. At the end of the week, we take our groups of kids into the park and have them partake in a field day where they tackle a day project of their choosing in which they gather quantitative information using our tools. Us field instructors act as facilitators on that given day, where we give advice and the tools necessary for their project. They present their findings to their peers the following day. Show less

Corridor Research Group Intern
-
Sep 2018 - Aug 2022
In our research, we aim to figure out what animals are using small corridors meant for travelling as a means to help keep them safe and preserved. Currently, we are working in an area in Escondido called Daley Ranch, where we've planted cameras in obscure places in hopes of finding out which animals are living in the area and using said corridors. I help to set up cameras while out there as well as analyze the thousands of photos that are automatically taken while planted there.
