  During River Montessori High School's first year of operation I served as the school's mathematics instructor as well as managed strategic and day-to-day finances, fundraising, IT, and IDOE data submissions. In Year 2, I transitioned out of the classroom to continue developing and documenting systems to support the school's founding vision of being a true "teacher-led" school where there is no traditional principal and administrative roles are distributed among the teachers.

  Through the Founders Program of the Drexel Fund, I participated in a 1-year fellowship to design and launch a replicable, sustainable, urban, micro (approx. 60 students) Montessori high school in South Bend, Indiana. A key element of the school's design is that 1/3 of the school's seats are reserved for low-income families.   Housed at Good Shepherd Montessori School, the Montessori Consortium of the Great Lakes seeks to advance educational best practices according to the vision of Maria Montessori. My responsibilities included grant writing, developing and executing the strategic vision for the consortium, and managing the consortium’s public events. Major projects included: exploring the feasibility of establishing a MACTE certified teacher training program at a local college, hosting a yearly symposium, growing consortium membership, and supporting the founding of a Montessori high school in South Bend, Indiana.

  Through a one year grant from the Dekko Foundation I joined Good Shepherd Montessori School (GSMS) to lay the groundwork for the Montessori Consortium of the Great Lakes (MCGL) and support development activities for the school. Regarding GSMS, my development responsibilities included grant writing, strategic fund development planning, coordinating fundraising activities, and managing interactions with donors. For the 2016 - 2017 fiscal year (my first full fiscal year as the Director of Development), restricted and unrestricted development income more than doubled as compared to the previous fiscal year. Regarding the MCGL, I laid the foundation for multiple projects and partnerships that are in early stages of development: a MACTE certified teacher training program at a local college, a yearly symposium (inaugural event was in October 2016), and a Montessori high school in South Bend, Indiana.

  At Bethel College I taught courses across three disciplines (Linguistics, Mathematics, and English) while simultaneously leading multiple new initiatives. As the founder and first Director of Bethel College’s Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) program, I oversaw curriculum development for a TESOL minor and major and established international practicum sites in Spain, Lithuania, and Vietnam. Shortly after receiving tenure and promotion to the rank of Associate Professor, I resigned to take on the challenge of creating the Montessori Consortium of the Great Lakes at Good Shepherd Montessori School.
