- Review plans and prepares quantity take-off for all materials, equipment, and instruments required for the project. - Performs quantity surveying involving all engineering discipline e.g. civil/structural, architectural, piping, electrical and instrumentation. - Identifies and complies from contract documents all quantities and specifications of material required for the projects. Studies material prices as shown in the budget, and recommends substitute materials where in my opinion they would be more advantageous to the project. - Reviews the overall and the detailed construction programs, and schedules material deliveries accordingly to ensure that materials will be available on the site and as when required. - Solicits offers from local and overseas suppliers, prepares analysis and technical comparison and negotiates with them in order to obtain the best suitable terms concerning quality. - Proposes the most suitable sources of supply taking into considerations the combined factors of quality, price and delivery that are most economical to the project. - Initiates all Material Approval Request (MAR) on the project. Prepares submittal documents to obtain client approval for all materials, equipment, suppliers, manufacturers and subcontractors that will be supplied and utilized for the project. - Places firm orders with the nominated suppliers, follow up shipments and monitors deliveries to site, expediting with suppliers/forwarders as necessary to meet schedules. Approves invoices for payment against goods duly checked and received. - Prepares Material Submittal tracking schedule. -Inspects permanent material deliveries to ensure its compliance with the requirement prior to sending to project sites. -Ensures that all appropriate records are maintained for the final reconciliation of material.
