In my years with Manulife Financials, I was exposed to leadership and agency management. Together, with my team members, we build our careers from offering financial services and advises to families. I became their friend and business mentor, providing my team mates supervisory and guidance support for their financial planning careers. At the same time, I also attended corporate meetings and events, held locally and regionally. In some of these exposure, I was given some opportunities to become their panel of speakers during event launches, sharing experience, motivating the sales forces and team leaders, offering insights to this business. During this part of my management career, I am blessed to meet with Mr Tony Cheng who helps me to understand the importance of meaningful coaching, management, and development of financial reps. In the later years of my service to Manulife, I devote myself to developing sales careers for the rookies, and offer career advise to the potential sales leaders. The journey of team expansion, skill transfers, talent retention and career management with Manulife Financial has taught me the science of agency management. It also taught me the art of running successful sales teams and harnessing potentials from each aspiring individuals. Being the Education chairman for FSMA, an organisation that serves the financial planning industry in Singapore, I had many more opportunities to learn from the veterans and I realise that they have something in common.
