I work as a Geologist, Mapper, and Data Analyst for the State of Alabama Oil and Gas Board and Geological Survey of Alabama. My duties include maintaining the state geologic map, the database of oil and gas wells for the state, and automated reports. As a Data Analyst I use SQL to automate and assist the workflow of the Geologists and Engineers employed by both agencies. As a Mapper I maintain the online map, and produce maps. I regularly produce deliverables for the public, private entities, and state/federal government.

    • Staff Geologist
      • Sep 2011 - Apr 2017

As part of the duties I perform at Tom Joiner and Associates, I worked daily to create maps, oversee databases, and interpret scientific data. These projects included interdisciplinary teams of geologists and engineers, working in environmental, mining, and petroleum sciences. I regularly practiced geophysical log analysis, hydrogeology, sedimentary stratigraphy, geological mapping, subsidence surveying, and well logging; in order to delineate contaminant plumes, quantify the impact of activities upon groundwater, identify geologic units in areas of concern, preserve water resources, and analyze aquifer properties. The projects I have worked on have included the remediation of UST Sites under the AL state trust fund, the drilling of water/monitoring/recovery wells, oil field establishment and unitization, Phase I & II Assessments, interpreted geological hazards on sites, interpreted karst aquifers, and evaluated effect of mining on local water wells.
