This position has required me to apply both facets of my environmental background, organic land management and freshwater management. Since I began employment I have further developed and managed the organization’s organic land care (OLC) program and its budget. The OLC program especially prioritized the needs of the adjacent water body, including storm water runoff/pollution management. I have also established soil testing protocols and a test results database to develop trends in soil chemistry and biology. These data support changes within the OLC program to appropriately meet soil and environmental needs.I have helped create and implement systems of data collection for all field related tasks, tracking applications, pruning, scouting, plant installations/removals and transplants etc. GIS data implementation used to visualize and track annual tree pruning and management for the 1700+ trees in EA's tree inventory to help assist planning surrounding the new Tree Management and Succession plan. The data collected is an important resource for annual planning and is used to predict/troubleshoot future pruning, plantings and plant health related issues. I have also supported the DCR/EA goal of managing riparian vegetation (native and invasive) along Boston’s Charles River Esplanade.
