I worked for a general contractor, which means I had to learn a multitude of skills. This job consists of a lot of manual labor and long hours. It however does have more critical thinking than anticipated as i learned to read blueprints and put togther takeoffs and estimates. Between the constant math and learning of new terms I found it to be rewarding. Working hard and learning something new is common and enjoyable for me. I did specific jobs such as air-conditioning filters maintenance and dealt with harmful chemicals for the company. While there I lead a team of janitors, which has given me insight on leadership. I was a certified Red Cross lifeguard including a CPR for a water park in Paso Robles. They trusted me each and everyday with peoples lives. Numerous times I had to preform and pull people out of the water. It was a rewarding job but I wasn’t paid well enough so I did not return to this seasonal job.
