I researched and developed systems for detecting and analyzing mobile malware, specifically targeting Android. I developed a tool for clustering and scheduling malware analysis on a bank of physical and emulated mobile devices. I also developed tools for dynamic malware analysis using various technologies. This software suite included: writing a custom fork of the Android OS using Linux kernel modules written in C and ARM assembly (with the inclusion of a small amount of the THUMB instruction set). We also used Python to simulate human interaction on seemingly untrustworthy applications. Show less

I developed mobile applications for both in-house and student needs. The main application being CAS Navigator. This application was designed as a labor of volunteer by the apprentices of the Smart Device Lab in the Computer Science department. All integrations with internal university systems were reverse engineered one-by-one. The mobile application was designed to the the go-to mobile application for all students enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. The application allowed students to: view and interact with their on-campus currency accounts, check their class schedules, check their class grades, and set alarms and notifications based on the user's class schedule to remind them to attend class. It also showed newer students Birmingham-local favorite food spots near the university and the south side of Birmingham. GPS navigation to UAB Help Buttons were manually mapped by coordinates. This allowed the application to either call police immediately, or lead the user to the closes UAB Help button. Show less
