Public Bodies Reform Programme is a unit within Cabinet Office with oversight of all arms length bodies across government. There are over 300 organisations with gross annual spend of £200billion.I have strategic oversight of the work of this unit and developed partner networks across all government departments that have ALBs to ensure regular reviews of such bodies whilst providing policy and advice• Led the programme of tailored and thematic reviews of public bodies working closely with departmental transformation programmes.• Recognised by senior leadership for changing the focus of the reviews towards efficiencies and benefits. Several £millions potential savings identified.• Within one year the number of public bodies reduced from 466 to just over 300 thus reducing the costs of administration and governance.• Increased transparency of this complex landscape by leading the publication of the annual report which was improved from previous version and delivered two months earlier than previous year.• Co-chaired, with DExEU, the coordination of the preparation for Brexit across the ALB landscape, providing regulatory impact updates to the Head of the Civil Service.• Led business planning to resource key elements of the programme achieving a 100% growth in funding for two years, used to deliver regulatory savings in excess of £500m. • Programme Director of the Public Bodies Relocation Programme. Relocating ALBs outside of London as part of government initiative to balance jobs in all parts of the economy.
