The role of frontotemporal cross-talk in cognitive coordination and flexibility deficits in schizophrenia: an optogenetic approach. Goal: We seek to determine the causal role of the hippocampal-prefrontal network in schizophrenia as related to coordinating cognitive control and behavioral flexibility. Moreover, to investigate the causative role of frontotemporal synchrony and theta driven network coherence we will control (optogenetic stimulation/inhibition) PV+ interneuron activity in real time while freely-moving and behaving rodents engage in coordination and flexibility tasks.

Pre-clinic research of Psychobiology of Addiction and Neurobiology of Eating Disorders. Very good knowledge of behavioural approaches (Classic and Operant Conditioning on mice models of addiction and eating Disorders). Good knowledge of “in vivo” biochemical analysis techniques in cerebral structures on laboratory animals (Intra-cerebral Microdialysis and HPLC), and “ex vivo” biochemical analysis techniques (RT-PCR). Construction of handmade microdialysis probe (for rats and mice). Handling of mice and rats (inbred strains). Ability with statistic software (SuperANOVA, SPSS, R) and a software for behavioural analysis (VideoTracking, Noldus EthoVision); Ability with behavioural test as “T” maze, Morris Water Maze, Conditioned Place Preference(CPP); Conditioned Suppression Paradigm, Skinner Box. Ability with stereotaxis apparatus (implanting probes, local infusion or co-infusion of pharmacological substances).
