I anchored several projects among which were: The major maintenance of Ijan-Iluomoba-Aisegba-Agbado-Ode road Project sponsored by The Federal Road Maintenance Agency(FERMA) in Ekiti state and The construction of Arigidi-Erusu Small Earth Dam Project sponsored by Benin-Owena River Basin Development Authority. Both have since been commissioned. My experience on the various sites increased my confidence as an engineer in decision making. The dam project was another task I undertook when considering structures under high loads and pressure especially when it involves hydraulics. My understanding of soil and their behaviours under different conditions was sharpened while handling this project. The core material of the dam is clay due to its impermeability with water and its relatively denser weight. However, clay cracks under heat because of the fineness of its material, hence I encased the clay core material with well graded lateritic soil. Designed with two different slopes(the steeper facing downsteam), the stability for the dam to withstand sliding and Overturning pressures was achieved. The construction of Okemesi -- Itaure Road in Ekiti State, supervision of Okitipupa Township Road in Ondo State (1.2km) and the Ikere - Ado rural Road in Ekiti also added to my experience on road construction. The Monorail Transit linking the Calabar International Conference Centre(CICC) and Tinapa is a special project of the Cross River State government in Nigeria and I was the Structural Engineer with the background of bridge design and construction due to the similarities for the structure with bridges. The structure was intended to cut across a river, coupled with the weak nature of the soil upland, the need therefore for a bridge engineer was eminent. Piling was done both on land and in water covering a distance of over 800m. After an intense period of soil investigations by geotechnical engineers, which lead to several test and analysis of the soil within the Show less
