In addition to teaching classes across the spectrum of geosciences and science communication, I helped develop a game to teach the main concepts of magma crystallization, I was an advocate for diversity/equity/inclusion/accessibility, I served on Faculty Senate and the Graduate Academic Advisory Council, I participated in numerous outreach activities in the community, I reviewed papers and proposals as well as writing my own, and I advised graduate and undergraduate students. I conducted research first in southern Alaska (building the history of accretion of the Talkeetna Arc) and subsequently in hyperspectral imaging of alteration zones in the Alaska Range. Show less

During the final phase of the EarthScope NSF-funded investigation into the North American continent, I helped facilitate communications amongst scientists and between scientists and the public. This included showcasing EarthScope science at conference booths, culminating in special sessions at AAAS 2019. With my team, we transitioned the quarterly newsletter to online, created a new website of scientist profiles to inspire young scientists, and developed an interactive web map to inform the public of new science in their backyard.
