I was working on the analysis of RNA-sequencing data from brain and blood samples of patients with Alzheimer's disease and of patients with Parkinson's disease. In addition I was designing qPCR experiments to validate some of the results of the RNA-sequencing and isolating new samples and preparing for a new RNA-sequencing study. Feb 2014 - Aug 2014
During this internship I conducted some behavioral experiments on a mouse model of ALS. In addition I performed western-blotting on spinal cord lysates and triple immunohistochemistry on spinal cord slides with markers for motor neurons and astrocytes and antibodies against either p62 or Lamp2. Spinal cord slides were analysed with a Leica TCS SP5 confocal microscope. During this internship I conducted some behavioral experiments on a mouse model of ALS.
