    • Crowdfund Scotland coach
      • Jan 2019 - Aug 2020

As a Crowdfunding Coach covering East Lothian, Midlothian and Scottish Borders my role was to provide one to one coaching for start up entrepreneurs, businesses, social enterprises and individuals looking to raise money to fund their ideas through Crowdfunding. This includes helping customers to use the product and provide tech support when required. My expertise in Crowdfunding involves helping projects to plan a crowdfunding project from start to finish, and assisting in the technical aspects such as creating project pages, linking it to their existing social media. I look at each project individually and help them map their network, analyse the potential crowdfunding target, help with creating marketing plans and prepare for launch. During the process I monitor the project's progress regularly, thinking new ways they could take it further and raise more funds. In less than two years, I coached over 200 projects, unlocking over £300,000 for rural communities in Tyne Esk and Scottish Borders. Show less

I created the first crowdfunding campaign for an archaeological excavation in Finland. The project was called Tracing Finds, and was successful in reaching it's target. The campaign reached international attention and was noticed by DigVentures, a London based crowdfunding organization. Tracing Finds was part of Master's Thesis in Archaeology. This project required significant research into the legal aspects of crowdfunding and university and charities policies. As the secretary of the School of Language & Literature, I was given the responsibility of owning the organisation of the evening language classes. This involved a number of key responsibilities including:• Liaising directly with teachers regarding their availability to teach evening classes and updating the School’s website with this information• Supervising the advertising of the language classes, implementing improvements in this process through the organisation of a number of effective billboards, and the integration of a new web platform for the School• Responding to inquiries from the public and interested cooperative parties in the language classes• Managing the administration of the income from the class bookings.• Maintaining the student database with accurate, up-to-date information.A key development I implemented in this role was the re-organisation and re-launch of the communications billboards for the School. I identified that a significant amount of enquiries raised with the school involved understanding what languages were being taught, and offers to support in the teaching of languages. Thus, in order to reduce the workload of the administrative staff within the School, and to increase the visibility of the courses offered, I took the initiative of arranging for billboards to be located where individuals could share their requests for language lessons, and those interested in providing services could offer their services. This helped to increase the level of interaction between potential pupils and teachers, and reduced the volume of enquiries the administrative staff had to deal with, freeing them up to work on other areas. Key skills developed: Timetabling, course sign up processes, managing payments, data entry. Show less

      • Mar 2011 - Mar 2013

I worked as a part of a small team responsible for carrying out an inventory assessment and cataloguing several museum collections to the high standards expected by the museum. The project included reorganising a large number of museum owned items across a broad suite of facilities, and improving these facilities so they were appropriate for their intended purpose. In addition, I was responsible for the recruitment and training of several project volunteers and staff, and supervising them in their duties. I played a key role in the successful completion of this project, utilising my project management and communication skills to help lead the team skills to help lead the team to the completion of their activities. The achievement I am most proud of within this role was the initiative I took to publicize the museum collections that were being discovered by the team in their cataloguing activities. The team were discovering a number of excellent “forgotten” pieces that had not been seen in public for a number of years. I suggested and was given approval to create a small exhibition of these items to share them with the local community. I used social media and local advertising to raise awareness of the exhibition, and created volunteering roles for people in the local community to get involved in the collections. As a team, we completed our cataloguing project, exceeding the targets for quality and time we had been set, leading to an improved experience of the exhibits for incoming researchers and the local community. Key skills developed: Data management, people management, communication, content creation (exhibitions), project management and coaching. Show less
