My first permanent job was for the multinational corporation McDonalds. The training programme I took part in whilst working here will definitely be transferred to other jobs as it was very informative on how to work in a fast pace environment whilst maintaining company standards. We did a range of training based on how to provide excellent customer service whilst keeping up with the demand. My duties included taking orders at the till, making drinks when they come up on the screen, mopping, taking bins out, cleaning and occasionally helping in the kitchen making burgers, wraps etc. Show less

For my first job within retail, I was a Christmas Temporary Sales Assistant for the well-known company ‘TK Maxx’. My responsibilities included executing regular stock takes, making sales, performing refunds, tidying stock, fetching clothes and accessories for customers from the stockroom, replenishing and minding fitting rooms. I believe working here helped me to develop my customer service skills and get a better idea of how working in retail works. In June 2016, I began unpaid work experience at the Technology Redistribution Company Charterhouse Muller. Here I worked in their offices, answering phones, answering customer queries and filling out invoices. This gave me the chance to develop good customer service skills and improve my organisation skills. I also had the opportunity to develop excellent communication skills, particularly over-the-phone. For my school work experience in year 10, I had the opportunity to work within the international supplier of networking and electronic equipment company ‘Cisco’. Here I gained experience on the business side of their organisation. I took part in activities from each section of the company including marketing and finance which enabled me to gain good team working and leadership skills. I also had the opportunity to learn more about business and how the companies run.
