I am an Associate Scientist at the Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP), Trieste , Italy and I am working on Mathematical Modelling of Infectious Diseases with Climate variability. This involves the statistical treatment of epidemiological data with mathematical models, estimation of some epidemiological and climatic parameters as well as fitting models with epidemiological and climate data. Our primary research interest is in applied mathematics with the main focus on mathematical and economic modelling, epidemiology, nonlinear differential equations and dynamical systems. My doctoral research work is the conjoin of deterministic modelling and biology, aiming at the model establishment to study the dynamics of infectious diseases influenced by ecological, environmental and demographic factors and prediction of control strategies via mathematical analysis and numerical simulations for the models. I also use simulation and models to provide insights into infectious disease trends, quantify likely benefits of public health interventions, and support risk assessment for emerging infectious diseases. So, my research is basically about understanding infectious diseases transmission from the analysis of incidence and/or surveillance data from surveillance systems. I explore a number of techniques of data visualization and time series analysis in order to characterize meaningful signals in the data with R software. I also develop mathematical and computational models of disease transmission, fit them to real data and compare different modeling techniques as a function of the type of data and the kind of question under investigation. I use models to test different hypotheses regarding transmission mechanism, to estimate key epidemiological parameters such as R0 and to explore optimal interventions to reduce disease incidence. I have expertise in Compartmental models, stochastic simulations, Differential equations, Agent-based models, Time series analysis, Spatial dynamics, Infectious diseases control and Models parameters estimation.
