In 2016 we connected with over 50,000 people through activities and events. A large increase on participation rates prior to when I joined Curtin (2008 = 5,471 and 2007 = 4,224).

SPICE was a collaboration between UWA and WA Department of Education. The aim of the program was to enrich, inspire and refresh science teachers by connecting them with real life research occurring in the territory sector.This position involved researching and writing secondary science resources for the SPICE program, coordinating professional learning and events and assisting with other projects.Resources had a strong multimedia focus and included digital assets, videos, computer games, animations all supported with curriculum documents, teacher manuals and professional development.Many of the digital learning objects were commissioned.Duties included: writer and researcher; video direction and scriptwriting; copyright research and clearance; coordination and evaluation of professional learning for secondary science teachers; liaison with UWA scientists; media and public relations; events coordination (Centre for Learning Technology Launch, SPICE Awards); newsletter, web content and report writing; merchandise development and ordering.

Manager - CSIRO Science Education Centre

Responsible for management and operations of CSIRO Lab and Lab-on-Legs touring education program for all of Western Australia. Included primary school secondary school, holiday and touring programming in metro, remote and regional locations. Design, development and delivery of hands-on lab sessions. Management of a team of an education officer and team of casuals. Duties also included renovation, refit and rebranding of centre and teaching labs. Worked closely with designers, architects and others to ensure space was planned for functional and flexible use. Managed bookings and external programs during facility closure due to fit out.
