  I worked with the City of Northfield to implement their recently passed Climate Action Plan. The two areas I focused in were promoting clean energy and deterring waste contamination in recycling streams. Towards the goal of limiting waste contamination I drafted a structure of a new volunteer program to encourage recycling awareness in the city, and also researched best composting practices.   During my time with Amigos I spent a summer in Panama where I developed and implemented environmental/community based projects. At the beginning of this process I went door to door throughout the community to gauge interest in different types of projects and to learn what issues residents wanted addressed. The projects we ended up implementing included setting up recycling bins throughout the community, building a fence along a bridge, and fortifying the roads with concrete to encourage tourism… During my time with Amigos I spent a summer in Panama where I developed and implemented environmental/community based projects. The projects we ended up implementing included setting up recycling bins throughout the community, building a fence along a bridge, and fortifying the roads with concrete to encourage tourism and travel in the area. To actually enact these projects I worked with local community leaders to create maintenance plans into the future to ensure sustainability, filed paper work to receive funding, and recruited volunteers. At the same time these projects were being developed and set in motion, I also created and led after school programs to teach about environmental themes. These programs included children from a few of the surrounding communities, and had consistent numbers of 15-30 students in attendance.
