In 2021, I became a PhD student in the inaugural Sustainable Development Policy, Economics, and Governance program within the department of Community Development and Applied Economics. I work with the UVM Office of Engagement on issues related to community economic resilience in Vermont, and offer research support to a range of other projects related to resilience and environmental governance, rural innovation, and disaster management . My dissertation explores various approaches to building resilience in social-ecological systems, ranging from transboundary water management to data governance in Vermont. My research is grounded in mixed-methods and participatory approaches that engage directly with community, and spans the disciplines of environmental management, community planning, and public administration. I am currently the instructor of record for PA317: Systems Analysis and Strategic Management for Community Resilience, which is a graduate level course in UVM's Public Administration program. From 2018-2020, I worked as a graduate research assistant for Dr. Christopher Koliba as I pursued my Master of Science in Community Development and Applied Economics. My research, which was supported by the International Joint Commission, explored the social acceptability and political feasibility of flood mitigation measures in the transboundary Lake Champlain Richelieu River Basin, with the ultimate goal of building flood resilience in this social-ecological system.
