Working to identify engineering solutions that enable regeneration, repair and control of damaged tissue; non-invasive monitoring of molecular, cellular and tissue recovery; and treatment of soldiers in the battlefield. Through the REU BRAVe program I worked to identify engineering solutions that enable regeneration, repair and control of damaged tissue; non-invasive monitoring of molecular, cellular and tissue recovery; and treatment of soldiers in the battlefield. I developed and completed a 10 week research plan that focused on angiogenesis in tissue engineered skeletal muscle with varying myogenic proportions. The research has the potential to help veterans with skeletal muscle damage as well as those who suffer from poor circulation due to receding vasculature, for example diabetic individuals. I presented my research to peers and advisors at the end of the 10 weeks. I submitted an abstract to BMES-2019 where I presented my research. I also presented my research poster at SLU’s Learning Community Symposium where I was awarded first place. Show more Show less

Through my internship with NubAbility I worked to encourage, inspire, and instruct limb deficient youth by working with limb deficient coaches who trained the youth to adapt to and overcome their physical obstacles while playing sports. I organized campers and coaches’ schedules as well as worked with the prosthesis team whose main job was to educate parents on prosthetics available, future prosthetics and learn from campers and coaches on what improvements that have yet been implemented in the… Through my internship with NubAbility I worked to encourage, inspire, and instruct limb deficient youth by working with limb deficient coaches who trained the youth to adapt to and overcome their physical obstacles while playing sports.
