  Liberal International is the world federation of over 100 liberal and progressive democratic political parties and affiliates. With its own Human Rights Committee (LI HRC), LI helps to raise awareness of urgent human rights situations in the world. With its general consultative status in UN ECOSOC, LI influences the work of the United Nations. As a Staff Intern, I assisted with the daily tasks of the Secretariat of LI. My responsibilities included communication, social media, independent research as well as handling the day-to-day activities of the Secretariat. Reported to the Human Rights Committee about current human rights issues. Researched about topics that may be of interest for the LI HRC. Independently wrote several articles and statements about current and urgent human rights issues for the LI website. Organized, as part of a small team, an international event, the 206th Executive Committee of LI that took place in Canada. My responsibilities included communication to the membership, overseeing the visa process of attendees which helped ensure the success of the event. Show less
