A commitment to the values of Gheel Autism Service and promoting independent living within the community is integral. Encouraging community inclusion such as further education, possible employment or taking part in a local community service for example enriches our lives, and this is what I love about my role. This is not only beneficial to the people we support but to the community as a whole as it encourages and develops friendships and relationships. In the Community Support Team, the people that we support have individualised support plans that facilitate the lifestyle that suits one best. Using these personalised support plans and a Person Centred Approach while ensuring an excellent quality of life is key. With that being said empowerment, inclusion and encouraging best practice is what continues to build positive relationships and meaningful experiences throughout the lives of the people that we support.
