Trainee Auditor (Placement)

As a student of Accounting with French at Queen’s University Belfast, it was necessary for me to carry out an Accounting based placement year in a French speaking country during my third year. I spent 9 months working in the Audit department in KPMG, Luxembourg. KPMG makes up one of the Big Four firms worldwide. According to their website, “KPMG in Luxembourg is a leading provider of professional services, which include audit, tax, and advisory”. Their “approach to relationships and service delivery helps clients across the globe exploit new opportunities, improve performance, manage risk and enhance value for both shareholders and stakeholders alike”. “KPMG is a global network of legally independent professional firms with 138,000 employees in 150 countries”. I worked in the audit sector which “closed with a 5% growth” in 2011. During my placement, I believe I managed tasks appropriately, communicated in a clear and effective manner with team members and applied knowledge and initiative in work problems. I feel the feedback given by my mangers portrays how committed I was to the jobs and many of them pointed out just how optimistic I was during the 9 months. I believe the skills I have developed will aid me in interviews, meetings and general communication in and outside of university. Show less
