Based in a restaurant I am responsible for serving and greeting customers. I’ve gained the skill of being fully till trained which also means I am trusted to deal with money and customer complaints. Working in a busy restaurant environment has helped to develop my communications skills and my ability to work under pressure. It has also given me valuable experience of working in a team-orientated environment. Working at Nando’s has given me the ability to work in a fast paced environment while looking after a large amount of tables and customers. Show less

    • Staff Representative
      • Sep 2015 - Jun 2016

I was voted staff rep by my peers in work, this gives me the responsibility of counting tips and deciding what to do with them. If the staff want to go somewhere I am in charge of organising it, I enjoy doing this as it correlates well with my degree and puts my skills and everything I’m learning to the test. I design and update our online social media, keeping it current and building a relationship with customers.

During my degree I took a voluntary year placement at Principality Stadium in Cardiff. I spent a month in each department including Human Resources, Sales & Marketing, Hospitality and Retail. This gave me a thorough and sound understanding of how major events operate and the logistics of major events such as Rugby World Cup, Speedway, Six Nations and numerous C&E functions and pitch dinners. During the year I spent there, I found myself challenged and picked up skills I will utilise going forward, such as communicating at all levels, planning and organisation, problem solving and being able to work independently while supervising a team. During my time at Principality Stadium I undertook the below roles: - Box Supervisor – where I was responsible for a team of 6 waiting staff and 6 Executive Boxes for a number of events - Hot Plate Manager – co-ordinating all food to guests in a timely manner, communication with managers and chefs. - Accreditation Officer – during the RWC I was responsible for ensuring all members of staff had the appropriate level of accreditation, this meant processing accreditation forms to a strict specification and accreditating over 4000 members of staff in conjunction with ER2015. - Junior Retail Floor Manager Show less

As part of my events degree, we had to organise and plan our own event, we chose to do a 5K run at a local scenic park in Cheltenham to bring the university students and wider community together, whilst promoting Universal Sport. Universal Sport is in charge of all sports clubs in the University of Gloucestershire. • Sep 2015 - 2015

On my placement I was appointed the job of accreditation officer, this meant any member of staff who wanted to work the World Cup at Principality Stadium had to come through a process of application forms with myself. This taught me how to handle application forms, right to work and photo ID as it was compulsory due to a high security event. I totalled with accrediting 4000 members of staff. I volunteered at a pageant to shadow and assist the events manager. It was a great opportunity as I was given an insight to what it takes to create and carry out a successful event.
