Offered the job the same day as the interview, things have been on the same track ever since at Wells. My role has been a steep learning curve as I enter the world of marketing for real but I have thoroughly enjoyed the challenge, soaking everything up like a sponge. 🧽 Created as a result of a department restructure, mine is a new role which involves writing news for the School's website and local publications, producing weekly internal and termly external e-mail bulletins, creating content for and managing the School's social media (including an audit and content plan) and photographing the life of the School. This is alongside a host of other tasks, including organisation of events, communications with education agents and parents, managing videography shoot days and admin such as reporting on competitor schools and reviewing survey results. I love the variety of my job which presents me with something different every day, and I am extremely fortunate to have been so warmly welcomed into such a lovely community. The admissions and marketing team have offered me nothing but support and guidance and I so deeply value how kind they have been to me; I couldn't excel without them and their cups of tea! ☕️🫖 Not familiar with the School? Here's a little bit about what makes Wells so special: Tracing its history back to 909 AD, Wells Cathedral School is the oldest school in the West Country and one of the oldest in the world. Wells is a co-educational all-round independent school providing academic and co-curricular excellence, with a music specialist and choir school embedded within it; it is the only one of the four English Specialist Music Schools supported by the DfE to operate within the context of a proper school, and also offers a specialist mathematics scheme for gifted young mathematicians. Sales Associate (with marketing responsibilities)

Oct 2018 - Jan 2022
My position was originally meant to be as an office administrator, but a flare for sales saw me redirected as soon as the doors opened for the first time; I had a knack for presenting information to the general public in a way that is both accessible and informative which enabled me to sway decisions and close sales. A high proficiency in both writing and analytical skills developed throughout my degree was put to use through research and copywriting for the company blog, and I proved myself to be task-focused with intense attention to detail through the maintenance of the company website. My creativity was unleashed through content creation and the management of the company's social media, while I adeptly organised my time so that my sales figures matched those of colleagues with a decade more experience despite my additional responsibilities. Knowing that adaptability and flexibility would be key abilities in my future career, I wanted to work in what I knew would be an unpredictable, fast-paced environment with quick thinking required throughout the day. Waitressing equipped me with the skills I could later apply to anything from reactive marketing to averting or handling a PR disaster.
