Ryerson School of Interior Design annually hosts a Year End Show every April. I was on the planning committee for the 2016 show. Show Concept: A vibrant exchange of ideas flow within the world of design. This movement creates a dialogue in which past principles of design can harmonize with the new developed values we cherish today. By narrowing down key elements, we are able to broadly collaborate within a wide range of creative industries, gaining multiple original perspectives. The layering of crafts from hand-drafting to advanced technologies are two forms of design that are greatly linked and are celebrated for their own unique strengths. By merging these approaches, we create a balance. Dialogue will realize these principles and will continue to fabricate these innovations in design. Instagram: @yesrsid Show less

Ryerson’s Design Fabrication Zone (DFZ) is an interdisciplinary hub for design/fabrication innovation and entrepreneurship at Ryerson University. A joint venture between the School of Interior Design and the Department of Architectural Science, DFZ facilitates incubation and acceleration of ideas and strategically propels design learning and 3D production towards construction and/or business innovation. The zone fosters rich networking opportunities for student-driven initiatives through mentorship, workshops, strategic partnerships and cross-disciplinary collaboration. The DFZ offers access to traditional and digital fabrication technologies (rapid prototyping, CNC and CAD/CAM) enabling members to prototype and model ideas in order to test, evaluate and realize design concepts. The Bodhi Collective was a Ryerson student-led creative firm using physical space as a vehicle for social change. Our philosophy believes people and place are infinitely related. We work directly with you to understand your users. We'll discover, design, develop and deploy. With a team of engineers, architects and designers, we re-imagine each space to better fit the needs of the inhabitants and find new ways for them to engage with their space. In each project we take on, we make environmentally conscious choices a priority in not only the materials we use, but designing the space itself to embrace sustainable methods. Show less
