This role involved providing administrative support to the Safeguarding Team. The role is varied and requires organisation and flexibility. At times, the nature of the cases being dealt with can be sensitive, so confidentiality is key in ensuring information is collated and stored correctly. The team provides support and advice to staff around 3 hospital sites which can be fast paced at times. The ability to time mange workloads is important as well as being able to navigate the different in-house systems. Show less

My main tasks are to support the management team in regard to annual leave, sickness and training. This involved keeping in house computer systems up dated and that all information is entered correctly. These systems are also used to create and collate monthly reports which detail budget and staffing information. There are times where meetings needed to be organised and I would also take and distribute the minutes of them. I would also organise training dates for staff around the current rota as well planning for future dates. The staffing of the unit was also part of my role. If additional staff were needed, I would be required to ensure these were requested via the in-house system. Show less

Offender Management Unit Co-ordinator – This role involved updating computer systems to ensure that the prison roll check was up to date and all relevant prisoners were included on them. Prisoner records were also required to be updated and forwarded to new establishments if there were transferred. The role also included admin duties such as photocopying and filing. Resettlement Co-ordinator – The main duties involved in this role were to arrange meetings referred to as Post Programme Reviews. These were held with several outside bodies such as Probation Officers and sometimes a prisoner’s family. There were constant reviews being held over a year, so this role required a lot of organising and liaising with numerous people to reach a suitable date and time. I was also required to take minutes for these Reviews and type them to distribute to all parties who attended. As an add on to this role I was also responsible for ensuring that all files were kept up to date to demonstrate that the processes followed the guidelines laid out by outside auditors. For the 2 years in which I was responsible for this a 100% score was achieved. Psychological Assistant – During this role I was required to assess prisoners based on their current and previous offences to identify their risk of re-offending and suggest appropriate Offending Behaviour Programmes that they would benefit from completing. I was also involved in facilitating a group programme which explored thinking patterns and identified ways of problem solving, recognising consequences and making better choices in the future.
