Driving performance was massive for us at CurrencyFair - I was there at an exciting time to be in the FinTech industry, and our talented people made all the wonderful things we did to challenge and disrupt the financial services industry possible. My role allowed me to work with our Leaders, both in Dublin and in our Australian offices, and more recently in our Hong Kong and Singapore offices, to ensure that the team was supported and developed in order to achieve their own goals and the overall Company Strategy. We had a great team here - my job was to keep it that way!

Exciting times ahead for me professionally!

At Brown Thomas we thrived on achieving great results. The team of people I worked with were a truly dedicated bunch of people who are passionate about attracting, hiring, supporting and retaining the right people for every area of our business. I absolutely loved working for Arnotts; this is where I learned how to be an all-round HR professional. Having returned from a year abroad I first joined the company as HR Administrator and progressed to Project Administrator (for a HRIS Implementation Project) and HR Officer roles throughout my tenure. These were extremely varied roles in a very fast paced environment, always requiring me to be adaptable as the retail environment changes constantly. I am proud to have been part of a company… Show more I absolutely loved working for Arnotts; this is where I learned how to be an all-round HR professional. These were extremely varied roles in a very fast paced environment, always requiring me to be adaptable as the retail environment changes constantly. I am proud to have been part of a company that embraces change, is forward thinking, and is committed to delivering on its mission and vision whilst instilling its company values in the team. Apart from building up my HR Generalist skills of Recruitment, Training, Employee Relations, People Management, Employment Law etc, it is here that I developed a deep appreciation of the power of data. Having worked on the project team that delivered a new HRIS system and reporting tool, I witnessed the power of my work in action, as we were able to make informed decisions based on the insights at our fingertips. The most important thing I learned at Arnotts is that the HR function is very much one of Business Support. Every aspect of my role required me to be focused on supporting the decisions made by the Company, and to advise a course of action based on the overall vision and mission. Whether building a report, communicating a change, facilitating that change or implementing a procedure, I had to juggle the needs of each stakeholder carefully to ensure the successful completion of a project/task. This is something that has absolutely stayed with me throughout my career. Show less I absolutely loved working for Arnotts; this is where I learned how to be an all-round HR professional. Fresh out of college and in need of a contract role to sink my teeth into before I headed to Australia for a year, I landed this job which allowed my love of Project Management to flourish. Working on the Dell 'home office' roll-out, I implemented systems from scratch and co-ordinated the installation of products whilst maintaining customer relations throughout the succesful project. The Summer of 2004 saw me try my hand in the tough world of Recruitment Agencies. I tried, and I failed....miserably. I worked as a trainee recruitment consultant for the busy summer period looking after temporary positions and also working directly with the senior consultants on various recruitment campaigns, but alas, it was not for me. I have huge respect for those who can succeed in this tough industry, and of course have partnered with many of them in my career since. One of the main reasons I chose to study Business in DCU was that I was going to have the opportunity to have a whole year of industry experience by the time I faced final year and then the big bad world, so I was thrilled to secure my internship with a global giant like Intel. When I look back, I think this role shaped my career in many ways as it was at Intel that I first experienced what it was like to have exposure to many aspects of HR, and not just focus on one. My role involved being the first point of contact for any and all HR queries across EMEA. So my job was to work with the relevant expert to resolve Employee Services/HR queries in areas such as Payroll, Policies, Pension, Comp & Benefits, Training, and Relocation for Intel employees. In addition to my core job, I also worked on a number of projects with the Europe Region Employee Services (ERES) group, including: • Communications team – developing and rolling out communications plan • Web publishing for Intel intranet • Creating and maintaining online knowledge database for my team. • Presentations – I represented my department on a regular basis during New Employee Orientation training.
