Emily has worked hard throughout her internship to take advantage of learning opportunities, and the results have been very positive. Emily has excellent work ethic and has a strong ability to listen to instructions and follow through until the project is completed. One of the best qualities is her sense of urgency and ability to make quick decisions under a time crunch. She has great interpersonal skills and is able to work well with many cultures and personality types. Emily is respected and seen as a role model of integrity within the company.

Emily has been a group member in my Consumer Behavior and Marketing Management classes. Our projects have consisted of creating studies, analyzing case studies, and presenting ideas to the class. Emily is incredibly driven and a team player. In every group project we have worked on she has been consistent in her input and excited to learn from other team members. I would be happy to recommend Emily, as I have no doubt she would make a positive difference in any company. I also look forward to working with her again in the future.

As a language assistant, I assisted the English teachers of a primary school in Getafe, Madrid, Spain. I spent the majority of my time with first and second grade, but I also worked with fourth, fifth, and sixth graders. I worked with the students one on one or in small groups to improve their pronunciation and their general conversation skills through games and drills. I assisted the buyer for Men’s Gifts, Furnishings, and Accessories. I key orders for product. I chose product for print and electronic advertisements. I managed vendor relations by attending to all issues that arose during the product life cycle (from point of order to point of markdown in store). I collaborated with marketing, advertising, ecommerce, distribution, and other divisions to deliver the best product in the most efficient and effective way to the stores. My main job was to coordinate the organization’s website redesign. I became certified in Google Analytics and utilized its data, interviewed staff, and sent out surveys. Through these channels, I was able to help the staff to refocus the branding and messaging of the organization back to its original intent while accepting changes in their customers. I also worked on their social media presence. I created a set of guidelines for social media practices (Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter), and helped to manage their social media intern. Show less

In order to increase brand recognition throughout downtown St. Petersburg, I called on local businesses and schools encouraging them to visit the restaurant and offering them menus, special discounts, and coupons. These coupons are then tracked in Excel to measure success of each campaign. I helped reach out to the community by tabling at local events such as Bulls in the Burg Day, Crunch Pizza Night, and Bed, Bath and Beyond Bridal Fair. We served samples and passed out coupons to guests. Working with the owners and graphic designers, I helped to create ads that communicated our brand most effectively. I also sent out monthly newsletters to staff updating them on happenings in our store using Mail Chimp. Show less

After my 2017 graduation, I moved in with a family I had never met before to be an au pair for their two children (ages 7 and 4). This was a true test of my Spanish language skills, patience, and responsibility. My main job was to teach the children English. I was also in charge of getting them to and from school, preparing food, keeping the house organized, and caring for them after school. Personally, my goal was to improve my Spanish language skills. Because I was immersed living with a family, I was able to pick up vocabulary I wouldn’t have learned in the classroom. I was able to make connections with the people in town because I was able to speak to them in their language. Show less

As a Nordstrom Retail Management Intern, I worked alongside the department manager for the Women's Premium Denim and Women's Swim and Activewear Departments. I learned how to lead a team on the sales floor. I also worked daily on my customer service skills. I learned to how to coordinate a group of employees with different strengths and weaknesses and how to resolve conflicts between them. As an employee, I had to perform a variety of tasks such as: cashier, waitress, new employee trainer, and shift leader. I gained strong customer service skills and learned how to work with many kinds of people in different types of situations. My managers entrusted me with a variety of responsibilities. I was put in charge of the shift when they went for breaks or short meetings during the day. I was also requested to train new employees. After enrolling at the University of Florida, I continued to work each summer until the beginning of my junior year. Show less

After attending Mote summer camps for six years and volunteering as an aquarium guide over the summer in 2011, I was accepted into their high school internship program for my senior year of high school. I worked on team projects throughout the year such as a games booth at their annual Halloween fundraiser. I also attended an intern trip to Mote’s research lab in Summerland Key for a week. We worked with a coral reef reconstructionist and helped repair damaged reefs while SCUBA diving.
