On average, I coordinate 400 sessions a week. I also maintain correspondence with students and other departments. A large part of my position is helping enhance the academic experience for students at Marquette University. I am a part of the development of a new course for transfer students which will not only give them crucial information for their transition to MU, but will also integrate them into campus culture. The course, which I will be co-teaching, begins in Fall 2014. Finally, I provide support for the Freshmen Frontier Program, a summer program for first time freshmen to learn more about campus life and acclimate themselves to the academic environment. Along with my partner, I planned and booked all the social events for the program which included a Milwaukee River Boat Cruise, a service project, and the Freshman Cup- an Olympic type tournament in which all the students competed. I also served as an academic advisor for students enrolled in the Klingler College of Arts and Sciences and as the seminar leader for the Sociology class the program offered. Show less

Greater Milwaukee Area During the academic year I spend my time at Betty Brinn doing whatever it is the need me to do. Some of my common tasks are: making sample crafts, sorting through book donations for the two Little Free Libraries found in the exhibits, tallying results in parenting surveys and inventory for the gift shop. I also help with certain special events like the Little Monster Bash. I also help during parent informational sessions at the museum by providing extra child care during the meetings. Show less

Waukesha, WI. The Waukesha County Museum annually hosts three weeks of summer camps, each with a different theme. The first week of the camp was Pirate themed, so my lesson plans revolved around Captain Hook and pirate villains. I planned 4 crafts and 2 games to play and executed them with the assistance of the other camp counselors. The crafts included creating a Captain Hook-esque hook, a crocodile, a message in a bottle and an ocean in a bottle. The games were a pirate themed version of Simon Says and a cannon ball target game. The second week was the Imaginarium. My afternoon centered upon famous artists. I planned for the kids to learn about Warhol, Pollock, Chihuly, Dali, Goldsworthy and Christo. The kids made variations of the work of these artists which included two installation pieces for the front of the museum. We also played a game that involved the kids posing like famous paintings and sculptures. Show less

I maintained a relationship with community (using social media and e-mail), docents (by spending social breaks with them) and the professional staff (by daily interactions). I booked docents and volunteers to help with events and facilitated these events on an as needed basis. Larger projects included updating the school programmes brochures to reflect revamping of old programmes and the addition of new programmes. I also dedicated a great deal of time to the revamping of the school programmes: making activities more age appropriate, making the activities more meaningful. Later on in my internship I was trained to update and edit The Hunt Museum's website: www.huntmuseum.com. I was still responsible for The Hunt Museum's quarterly event brochure-which is transitioned to a seasonal brochure- until February 2014, working remotely from my current position in the States.
