      Volunteering for DMC has prepared me for taking on multiple tasks and pushes me to be a self-starter. Within my first three days I was answering phones, checking on patients, filing papers, and taking blood down to the lab. I make sure to perform all of my tasks with care. Volunteering here requires great communication skills, a positive attitude, and a go-getter mindset. When a patient's call light blinks I approach the patient with a smile and make sure I have complete understanding of what the patient needs before contacting their nurse, and if i'm allowed to fulfill their request I take on the task myself. When the clerk or charge nurse are focused on patients I answer the phones and leave notes for what the caller needed. My time spent here has helped me develop my costumer service skills and working with a team. Show less
